Carolyn Fritz, CEO
Ms. Fritz has been the CEO of Allylix since October 2004. She has extensive experience in building biotechnology businesses. From 1999 - 2004, Ms. Fritz built two start-up businesses for Dow Chemical- the first developed new chemicals and polymers using microbial fermentation and plant oils and the second contract manufactured biopharmaceuticals using E-coli and transgenic plants. From 1993 to 1999, she built a biotechnology business for Cargill that focused upon developing new food and industrial products from plant oils. She grew this business from a start-up to a profitable business. Ms. Fritz has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an MS from George Washington University, and a BSME from Iowa State University.

Richard Burlingame, Ph.D., Vice President, Research and Development
Dr. Burlingame joined Allylix, Inc. in late 2006 as Vice President, Research and Development. He has over twenty years of diverse industrial biotechnology experience in areas of gene expression, biocatalysis, metabolic pathway engineering, enzymology, and strain and process development for the production of microbial products. From 2001-2006, he was Executive Director of Research and Development for Dyadic International, Inc. where he coordinated the activities of a multinational team of academic and industrial R&D groups in areas of commercial enzyme production and fungal genetic technology development. From 1989-2001, he was a senior research scientist and research manager at Bio-Technical Resources, leading a number of successful internal and client-funded research programs in diverse areas of industrial biotechnology, several of which led to commercial products. He received a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota. He completed postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, studying molecular genetics.

Bryan Julien, Ph.D., Senior Scientist
Dr. Julien joined Allylix in 2006 after spending eight years at Kosan Biosciences as a senior research scientist. While at Kosan, he built their expertise in myxobacterial natural products, which led the way for the introduction of their first compound, epothilone, into clinical trials. In addition, he developed a novel expression host for myxobacterial secondary metabolites. He received his BS degree with honors in Genetics and Microbiology from Purdue University and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of California-Berkeley. Dr. Julien also pursued postdoctoral studies at Stanford University.
