Bob Coates, Ph.D.
Dr. Coates is on the faculty at the University of Illinois. His research focuses upon synthetic and mechanistic organic chemistry, natural products, and biosynthesis, of isoprenoid compounds including terpenes. He has published 150 scientific papers on these and related topics. Dr. Coates received his BS in Chemistry from Yale University, his Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley with W. G. Dauben in 1964, and completed postdoctoral research at Stanford University with E. E. van Tamelen.

Gerald R. Fink, Ph.D.
Gerald R. Fink, is a founding member of the Whitehead Institute and American Cancer Society Professor of Genetics at MIT. Dr. Fink was Director of the Whitehead Institute from 1990 to 2001. He received his B.A from Amherst College in 1962 and his Ph.D. from Yale in 1965. In addition, he has received honorary doctorates from Amherst College and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. His research focuses on the molecular biology of fungal infectious disease. He was first to introduce foreign DNA into yeast cells, which laid the groundwork for the commercial use of yeast as biological factories for manufacturing proteins and small molecules He was elected President of the Genetics Society of America. Among his many awards are the National Academy of Sciences Award in Molecular Biology, a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Medal of the Genetics Society of America, Emil Christian Hansen Award (Denmark), the Yale Science and Engineering Award, and the 2001 George Beadle Award. He has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Institute of Medicine and the American Philosophical Society. Dr. Fink serves on many boards including the Biozentrum in Basel, Switzerland, the Medical Advisory Board of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and the Salk Institute. Dr. Fink has been the founder of two biotechnology companies including Ironwood and Mycopharmaceuticals.

Alex Nadzan, Ph.D.
Alex Nadzan, Ph.D., is an experienced, biotechnology and pharmaceutical executive with expertise in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, R&D management. Prior to Allylix, Dr. Nadzan was Sr. VP, Science & Technology at Chugai Pharma USA, where he lead teams in the discovery and early stage development of several novel compounds for the treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic disorders. Dr. Nadzan has also held senior scientific and management positions at Ligand Pharmaceuticals and Abbott Laboratories heading programs focused on the discovery of novel therapies for oncological, metabolic, neurological and infectious diseases.

Joseph Noel, Ph.D., Founder
Dr. Noel, one of Allylix's scientific founders is currently a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, a Professor in the Structural Biology Laboratory and the Director of the Jack Skirball Center for Chemical Biology and Proteomics at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. At Salk, his laboratory is utilizing a combination of mechanistic enzymology, molecular biology, plant biology, and tools in structural biology including protein x-ray crystallography and NMR to decipher the structure, function, and evolutionary history of enzymes in plant cells and microorganisms that produce biologically active natural products including terpenes, polyketides, and alkaloids.
