Strategic guidance and expertise

Allylix’s board of directors has six members: the company’s CEO, four investor directors, and an independent director.  With expertise across biotechnology, business strategy and finance, industry and start-up business, the board guides the company as it achieves important milestones.

Simon Barnes, Ph.D.  

Dr. Barnes is a founder of Circadia Ventures LLP and Managing Partner of Tate & Lyle Ventures LP a London-based fund backed by the global food ingredients company Tate & Lyle. He has extensive prior experience in life sciences venture capital with Atlas Venture and GIMV Venture Capital and is a plant biochemist by training.

Carolyn Fritz

Ms. Fritz became CEO of Allylix in October 2004.  Carolyn brings to Allylix extensive experience in building successful biotechnology businesses.  From 1999 – 2004, she served as President of Dow Chemical's Biomaterials and Biopharmaceutical Business Group where she built start-up businesses, served on the board of Innovase, Dow’s industrial enzyme joint venture with Diversa and as an advisor to its chiral intermediate collaboration with Diversa. Prior to Dow, Ms. Fritz was General Manager of Cargill's Specialty Oils Business where she grew the business from start-up to a profitable business. See Management team for Ms. Fritz’ complete bio.

Tom Jameson

Mr. Jameson is a member of the Blue Grass Angels and a successful serial entrepreneur.  He is president and sole owner of Shelf Plus and is Chairman and owner of BestCare, Inc.  Since 1977, ShelfPlus has provided professional assistance in planning and implementing cost-effective inventory management and automated storage and retrieval systems.

David Kabakoff, Ph.D. 

Dr. Kabakoff is an Executive-in-Residence at Soffinova Ventures and a successful serial biotechnology entrepreneur.  He has led four biotechnology companies from early stage through to successful exit including Salmedix, which was acquired by Cephalon for $200 Million, Dura Pharmaceutical, acquired by Elan Pharmaceuticals, and Corvas International, that he took public.

Ron Meeusen, Ph.D.

Dr. Meeusen is a Managing Partner of Cultivian Ventures.  Prior to founding Cultivian Ventures, he had a 26-year career in the food and agricultural industry including research and executive management positions in agricultural chemicals, field crop and vegetable genetics and breeding as well as novel and industrial components.

Pulakesh Mukherjee, Ph.D.

Dr. Mukherjee is a Principal with BASF Venture Capital and is based in the Silicon Valley. He has international expertise in the area of research and development, marketing, sales and business development during his time with BASF.
